Kate Pays Tribute to Christchurch in Red and Black

William and Kate were formally welcomed to Christchurch by Mayor Lianne Dalziel and elder members of the Ngai Tahu tribe at the city council building.

Then it was off to a scheduled meeting of four families who were victims of magnitude 6.3 earthquake which struck the city on February 22, 2011 but the couple chose to cross the grass to meet many more people.

After meeting the families of victims they attended a service at the city's 'cardboard cathedral', a structure made of cardboard tubes that award-winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban designed to replace the 1881 Anglican cathedral destroyed in the quake.

Next, they headed to the Botanic Gardens to open a new $16.4 million visitor center.

Then it was time for a spot of cricket in Latimer Square, and former New Zealand stars Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley spoke to the couple before the royals took up a bat and ball.

The Duchess of Cambridge recycled her red Luisa Spagnoli tailored skirt suit with black belt — the official colours of the region of Canterbury. Though her pure-wool jacket and skirt is the same, there have been a few subtle refinements. Kate, sneakily added a good three inches to the skirt to give the whole look a more sophisticated edge

She purchased the skirt suit by the Italian designer in Knightsbridge back in 2011 for £495, and first wore it during a visit to St Andrews on February 25, 2011 just after she and William got engaged

This time she paired it with nude tights, her Episode Angel black suede pumps and her black Mulberry 'Bayswater' clutch to match the buttons and belt.

Completing her colorful ensemble, she complimented it with her Annoushka Pearl Drop earrings, her Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch and her Mappin and Webb necklace which remained hidden most of the time beneath her jacket.

As for her signature curls she had her hair pulled away from her face in an elegant half-up, half-down style.
